Art really can make a timeless gift. Art is so subjective. We all have our personal likes and dislikes. People buy art for a whole lot of different reasons.
Colour, size, a particular artist, who knows except the purchaser.
So art can be difficult to purchase for somebody else.
However, art really can make a great gift. Whether it’s for a wedding, a house warming, a Christmas present, or a birthday celebration, giving art can be such a thoughtful and lovely gift.
But there are a few points to consider before parting with your hard earned cash.
Firstly, consider the recipient – what styles do they like? What colours do they wear most? Do they like muted tones or bold prints?
Think about their personality, their tastes. Are they introverted or extroverted?
Consider their space, be mindful of how their home is currently decorated. Just as if you were purchasing art for your own home, consider all aspects of the environment so the new art is a perfect fit with the décor.
Where do they live? If they are living overseas, then works on paper can be shipped safely and affordably, close by and if its small enough to be wrapped you can present it personally.
If it’s larger you may have to pay for courier costs so be mindful of that incurred cost.
Make sure you explain to the recipient who the artist is, where they are from and why you personally chose the piece. We all love a story, and it’s nice to know the story behind the work.
I love that art can bring emotions to the surface, it makes you feel, it can inspire you, make you think. When you give a gift, and it truly comes from the heart
then the recipient will feel it as well.
